GLA:D® is an evidence-based education and exercise program aimed at improving pain, function and quality of life for people living with knee and hip osteoarthritis. This 6-8 week program focuses on providing individuals with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to effectively manage their OA and improve their quality of life.

GLA:D® Australia is a program for all individuals who experience any hip and/or knee osteoarthritis symptoms, regardless of severity.
You may participate in the GLA:D® Australia program if you have a hip or knee joint problem that resulted in visiting a health care provider.
You do not need a GP referral to participate in GLA:D®, but other health-related issues may prevent you from participation. If you're uncertain about whether you qualify, feel free to reach out to Alannah at Kaylana Wellness Collective for further program details and discussion.

The GLA:D® program is for those who are ready to take charge of their osteoarthritis journey and embrace a path to better health. If you're seeking a personalised exercise plan, a supportive community, and an evidence-based approach tailored to your unique goals, this program is for you. It's ideal for those who are ready to embrace conservative management strategies and are committed to achieving meaningful, lasting improvements in their mobility and overall quality of life

Initial appointment: Meet with your certified GLA:D® Physiotherapist to discuss the program, address your goals and concerns, and gather baseline measurements of your current functional abilities.
Two FREE osteoarthritis education sessions: delivered by trained GLA:D® physiotherapists. We discuss what is osteoarthritis, risk factors, symptoms, introduction to treatment, exercise, activities in daily living, coping and self-help tools.
Duration: 6-8 weeks
Tailored Exercise Classes: 2 sessions per week over 6 weeks in a small group setting. During these sessions, we’ll guide you through exercises that align with your personalised plan, ensuring that each movement is suitable for your level and goals.
Home Exercise Support: To complement the group sessions, we provide you with a structured home exercise routine that’s tailored to your individual needs. This allows you to continue making progress between sessions and ensures that your overall plan is cohesive and goal-oriented.
Physitrack Access: Gain access to Physitrack app for guided home exercises and an exercise log book to track your progress.
Community: Engaging with others in the program provides support, motivation, and shared experiences that will enhance your rehab journey. It helps keep you committed, accountable, and makes the experience more enjoyable.
Support and Monitoring: Regular check-ins with your physiotherapist, including a 3-month follow-up to review your progress, reassess functional abilities, and discuss your self-management plan after completing the program.
Rebates: Sessions are eligible for HICAPS (health fund codes 500/505/560) and you may qualify for Medicare rebates for use on 1:1 sessions — please consult your GP for details.

Starting Your Journey with Us
1. Assessment
During your initial physiotherapy consultation, we will perform a comprehensive and personalised assessment tailored to your needs. We'll review your relevant medical history, evaluate your mobility, strength, and functional abilities, and address any specific issues related to your osteoarthritis. We take the time to listen to your concerns, understand your goals, and ensure that our approach aligns with your individual needs for managing osteoarthritis effectively.
2. Education Sessions
Benefit from two FREE osteoarthritis education sessions. These sessions provide valuable insights into managing your condition, including the latest treatment options, practical self-help tools, and strategies for improving your daily life. It’s all about empowering you with knowledge and support.
Plus, you'll connect with others who share similar experiences, building a supportive community and network around you.
3. Tailored Exercise
Participate in 6 weeks of clinical exercise, led by a certified GLA:D® physiotherapist. This program includes twice-weekly small group exercise classes tailored specifically to your goals, ensuring personalised attention and guidance. You'll have access to gym equipment and the Physitrack app for home exercises and progress tracking, helping you stay on track and motivated.

To sign up, simply contact our Physiotherapy clinic at Kaylana Wellness Collective to schedule an initial assessment. During this assessment, we will determine if the GLA:D® Program is right for you and discuss the next steps.

You don’t need a referral from your doctor to participate in the program. However, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. If you’d like to explore this option, please visit your GP and discuss whether you qualify for an EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) plan, which you can then use towards the initial consultation and 3-month follow-up assessment.
The group session item code 560 is applicable to all group exercise sessions. Contact your insurer to confirm the level of cover they provide. An itemised statement will be provided at the completion of the 6 weeks to assist with Insurance claims.

Alannah has undergone further training with GLA:D® Australia and is a certified GLA:D® clinician.

Yes you can. We recommend discussing your options with your physiotherapist during your initial assessment. They will help determine if the GLA:D® Program is suitable for you at this time.

Yes you can! You may also be given home exercises in between sessions, accessible via our exercise app or provided via PDF with pictures. These exercises are designed to complement the supervised sessions and help you achieve your goals. The exercises are individualised to you and we will discuss more in our initial consultation.

If you miss a session, please let us know at least 18 hours in advance to avoid late cancelation fees. We will do our best to accommodate missed sessions, but regular attendance over the 6 week period is crucial for your success in the program.
